Episode 57, The Marshall Art of preparing a will OR giving your loved ones guidance, not guesswork!
Most people think of wills in terms of physical things. But today, much of life exists online. Family photos stored in the cloud, email accounts, online banking, cryptocurrency, digital subscriptions, loyalty and airline rewards programs, social media accounts, password managers, and oh yeah, podcasts. Digital assets don't simply disappear when we do. Without guidance, loved ones may not know what accounts exist, how to access them, or even whether they should be closed, preserved, or transferred. While your will usually isn't the place to list passwords, it is the place to authorize the appropriate people to manage your digital assets as allowed by law. Keep a secure, regularly updated record of your important accounts, where they're located, and how your executor can gain access.
